No Obvious Distress by Amanda Quaid is a poem book, documenting the struggles of having a rare case of back cancer. Quaid explains to us as the reader the emotions of being a mother, a wife and the beauty of life.
My shortlisted runner up book cover shows the nature side of something beautiful, a quote that really stuck with me “In the MRI I know how the woodpecker must sound to the tree”. The quote symbolizes the trauma that Amanda Quaid went through with the constant repetition of the sound like a woodpecker hitting their head on the tree.
For the book cover I wanted to think outside the box and do a type of print that I am not familiar with which is Mono printing. To get this unique look I collected leaves, twigs and bird feathers and press them to get the unique beautiful pattern.
